Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday 12 Tags of 2012 March post. We are once again going to dive into Tim Holtzโs 12 tags of 2012. Even though all of these tags were well out of my crafting wheel house, I had so much fun making them. Let me show you what we created in March of 2012.
12 Tags of 2012 March

Here is my take on Tim Holtzโs March 12 of 2012 Tag.

Like the previous tags made in this series, I used the Distress #8 Tags by Tim Holtz. The next supply needed for today’s tag is a wood grain stamp. Because I don’t own one, I used Timโs Wood Grain embossing folder. To add some color to the tag, I applied Walnut Stain Distress Ink to the inside of the embossing folder before adding the tag. Then I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the tag to add extra color and depth.

Because I used the embossing folder, there was a lot more texture to my tag. Because of this I stamped the sentiment with Ranger Black Archival Ink onto a scrap piece of velum. The sentiment came from the Nature’s Elements stamp set by Stampers Anonymous. The flowers are cut with the Tattered Florals die. I used some scrap paper for the mosaic element with copper embossing powder.

The mosaic technique is a fun one to add to anyoneโs tool bag of tricks. You need to start out with a sheet of Wonder Tape since you will be working with heat. Cover a piece of Grunge Board with the tape and cut out your image. Next, you need to cut some small pieces of paper. There are many different ways you can do this; with random pieces or with a more precise pattern. You can use whichever technique fits your image! After adding the paper to your image, pour your embossing powder over the entire piece, shake off the excess, and hit it with the heat gun. After it cools, apply Crystal Lacquer (which is what I used) or Ranger Glossy Accents only to the paper; not to the embossed area. To finish today’s tag I topped it off with a piece of Brown Offray Ribbon.
Thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday 12 Tags of 2012 March post. I really enjoyed created the mosaic floral elements for this tag. It was so different from anything I had created to that point. It might be fun to try this technique on a larger scale than this. Perhaps creating a mosaic square, maybe 3โx3โ with the sentiment strip layered over the top? I might have to give that one a try sometime soon. Until then, have a fantastic weekend and I will see you back in the craft room again soon!
