Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday 2015 Christmas Cards post. I know, it seems a little strange to be talking about Christmas cards in March. Back in the day, I didn’t have a set blog posting schedule. If I made a card or project, I blogged about it.
Having said that, most of my crafting happened around the holidays, especially Christmas cards. As I get closer to the end of my Flashback Friday posts—maybe 7 or 8 more to go—you’ll notice they’re mostly Christmas projects. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the beautiful cards I made in 2015.
2015 Christmas Cards
Back in October, my sister and I attended the Scrapbook Expo in Denver. While wandering around and drooling over all the fun items, I fell in love with the Elizabeth Craft Designs Metal Die Ornament Sets 2 & 3. Once I had the dies in my crafty little hands, I had to figure out what to do with them. So, it was off to Pinterest for ideas.
After thinking about it for a while, I decided to go with a clean and simple design.
Each die set has two different overlay patterns. Since I couldn’t decide which I liked better, I used them all. The glitter paper is from a Paper Studio pack. The Merry Christmas stamp is from Tim Holtz, stamped with black Memento ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.
The most difficult part of these cards was gluing the top layer to the base. I wanted a little more “wiggle room” than my Xyron would allow. When I tried using Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive with a toothpick, it globbed on and was just… yuck! It took a few days, but I finally remembered my unused Zig 2 Way Glue Pen, which gave me much better control.

I have to say, even with the struggle of getting the top layer glued to each ornament, this is still one of my favorite cards. And honestly, it’s never too early to start thinking about—or even creating—your Christmas cards.
