Flashback Friday Black, White and One Color

Posted on April 11, 2025April 10, 2025 by Leen

Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Black, White and One Color post.
Back in March 2012, I joined the Black, White, and One Color challenge on Stamp TV. Sometimes, working with a limited color palette feels like a breezeโ€”but other times, choosing that one extra color can be surprisingly tricky. That was definitely the case for this Mix It Up Monday challenge! With a little help from some online inspiration, Iโ€™m really happy with how this card turned out.

Black, White and 1 color โ€“ Silver

Iโ€™ve been wanting to participate in this weekโ€™s Mix It Up Monday challenge over at StampTV, but I couldnโ€™t decide which color to add to the mix. Then last night, I came across a gorgeous black, white, and silver card on Suzanne Deanโ€™s site (which you can see here), along with a beautiful โ€œThank You Noteโ€ card by Donna. That combination of inspiration sparked the idea for my โ€œJust a Noteโ€ card.

Photo of the card made for today's Flashback Friday Black, White and One Color post.

To create this card, I used the Classic Diamonds Nestabilities setโ€”though I have to admit, they were a bit trickier to work with than I expected at 11:00 p.m. (LOL!). I also used the Music Note #1 Cuttlebug die and some fabulous textured paper that had been hiding under my scrap pile for way too long: Crinkles cardstock by Wausau Paper.

This paper comes in an 8″ x 8″ pack with 30 sheets in a beautiful range of colors, including Cotton (which I used), Mustard, Olive, Dusk (a deep blue), Artesian (a soft light blue), Wool (gray), Charcoal, Cocoa, Wheat, and Pimento.

Thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday Black, White and One Color post. I absolutely love how this card turned outโ€”and I couldnโ€™t resist a little pun! Did you catch it? โ€œJust a Note,โ€ with one music note on the card? LOL! Not bad for a late-night crafting session, right? As a side note, I used one of my all-time favorite papers on the card front: Crinkles cardstock by Wausau Paper. I love, love, love this texture and really wish I had more of the white! Let me know in the commentsโ€”if you were doing a black, white, and one color challenge, what color would you choose? Iโ€™d love to hear your ideas. Until then, have a fantastic weekend, and Iโ€™ll see you back in the craft room soon!
