Flashback Friday CASE the Tag

Posted on July 4, 2025June 9, 2025 by Leen

Itโ€™s time for another Flashback Friday CASE the Tag post, and today Iโ€™m sharing a fun twist on a past challenge I joined. Instead of creating a card like usual, I decided to switch things up and make a tag! At the time, I was totally inspired by the Tim Holtz 12 Tags series, and when I saw the challenge hostessโ€™s tag, I knew I had to give it a try. The design was too good to pass up. If youโ€™re new to the term CASE, it stands for Copy And Share Everything. For this tag, I โ€œcopiedโ€ her emboss resist technique, ink blending style, and even her color palette. Letโ€™s take a look at how it turned out!

Free For All Friday โ€“ CASE the Design Team

Itโ€™s time for another Free For All Friday challenge! This week, Cat challenged us to CASE design team member Sharon Harnist. You can check out Sharonโ€™s amazing StampTV Gallery here.

There were so many beautiful cards, calendar pages, and tags to choose from, but I finally picked her Heartfelt Thanks Tag. You can visit Sharonโ€™s blog HERE to see how she created it.

Below is the tag I made, inspired by Sharonโ€™s design. I started with a manila tag, stamped two images from Theresa Momberโ€™s Sending Sunshine set using VersaMark ink, and heat embossed them with clear powder. Then I blended Distress Inksโ€”Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed, and Peeled Paintโ€”to create the background. A quick spritz of water added some extra character to the ink. After distressing the edges, I added a touch of Walnut Stain ink to pull it all together.

The ribbon didnโ€™t photograph very well, but it actually started out bright white. I added Worn Lipstick and Mustard Seed ink, gave it a generous spritz of water, and ended up with a soft, peachy pink shade that complements the tag beautifully.

One of the smartest things I did while making this tag was to use repositionable tape to stick a piece of scratch paper to the back before inking the front. Thanks to that simple step, the back stayed cleanโ€”except for a light touch of Walnut Stain around the edges. Now I can use the back to write a short message to the recipient!

This was another fun StampTV challenge. Now, if only I could channel some of this creative energy into my homeworkโ€”LOL.

Thank you for joining me for todayโ€™s Flashback Friday CASE the Tag post. I still have this tag in my stash and noticed today that the ribbon color has faded! Thereโ€™s just a bit of what Iโ€™d now call discoloration on the back of the knotโ€”but the tag itself still brings back happy crafty memories.

Do you enjoy creating tags like this? If so, how do you use themโ€”on gifts, as bookmarks, or maybe even as part of a card design? Iโ€™d love to know how you give your handmade tags a purpose! Until, have a fantastic weekend and I’ll see you back in the craft room soon!
