Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Challenge Distressing post. Weโ€™re diving into a fun throwback from February 2012, featuring the acrylic distress technique. This challenge was such a blast, and I loved incorporating this technique into my design. If youโ€™re curious about how it works, you can check out my original post here: Flashback Friday Acrylic Distress. Youโ€™ll also find the original tutorial over on Splitcoast Stampers: Acrylic Distress. Take a look at those links, then come back to see todayโ€™s challenge card!

Mix It Up Monday Challenge โ€“ Distressing

Itโ€™s time to play along with another fun weekly challenge over at StampTV! On Mix It Up Monday, Regina challenged everyone to distress a card and to include some sort of tag on it.

I began my card with the acrylic distress technique using Celery Green craft paint by Making Memories, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and the Dโ€™Vine Swirls embossing folder from Cuttlebug. Before moving on, I distressed the edges with my scissors, then added a touch of Vintage Photo Distress Ink to highlight the texture.

The stamp on the tag is from Theresa Momberโ€™s Sending Sunshine stamp set. For the flowers, I used Copic markers Y17 Golden Yellow, Y15 Cadmium Yellow, and Y13 Lemon Yellow. The stems and leaves were colored with YG03 Yellow Green and YG63 Pea Green.

After coloring the flowers, I distressed the edges and tore the bottom of the tag to make it fit on the card. Then, I added Antique Linen, Tea Dye, and Vintage Photo Distress Ink for a vintage look. Finally, I wrapped some twine around itโ€”and then spent 15 minutes struggling to tie a knot! Sheesh! Thereโ€™s a reason bows and knots rarely make an appearance on my cards! LOL

This was a fun card to make, and I think it came out ok. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Thank you for joining me for todayโ€™s Flashback Friday Challenge Distressing Card post! Itโ€™s always fun to look back at past creations and remember the techniques that made them special. Have you ever used the acrylic distress technique in your card making? Let me know in the commentsโ€”Iโ€™d love to hear about it! Until then, have a fantastic weekend and I will see you back in the craft room soon!
