Welcome back to the craft room for today’s Flashback Friday: Flowered Cottage edition! The star of today’s project is a well-loved stamp that’s been in my stash for many years—possibly even one of the first I ever bought. Although I’ve used it several times before, this was my first time bringing it to life with Copic markers.
Before we jump in, I wanted to share a bit about my original plan for this card. I thought it would be fun to turn the colored panel into a Spotlight design. It’s a technique where you highlight just one section of a stamped image—often by coloring only that part and leaving the rest uncolored. But as you’ll see, plans can change mid-project!
Flowered Cottage
Originally, I planned to create a spotlight-style card, but once I finished coloring the full image, I just couldn’t bear to crop any part of it! The vibrant scene felt too special to hide. I gave it a bold black mat and let the entire design take center stage.
The stamp is Flowered Cottage by Stampendous. I forgot to jot down exactly which Copics I used—oops!—but I loved experimenting with color on this charming scene.

Even without fancy techniques or elaborate shading, the finished image was just too pretty to cut apart. Next time I want to create a spotlight card with a large stamp like this, I’ll try choosing one section to color and leaving the rest uncolored—that way, the design can really shine without losing its impact.
