Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Free For All post! Back in May 2012, I joined in on another Free For All Challenge over at StampTV. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I truly enjoyed participating in these online challenges—they’re such a great way to spark creativity and try something new. Today, I’ll show you the card I made for the Tackle a Technique challenge. Plus, I’ve got two more throwback projects to share, including a graduation card inspired by an online sketch.
Free For All Friday
This week’s Free For All Friday challenge, hosted by Sean, was all about tackling a technique from the StampTV video library. For my entry, I chose to try Gina’s Wainscoting Background—and I’m so glad I did!
To create this card, I started with a piece of light gray cardstock, my Scor-Pal, and London Fog Memento Ink. Following Gina’s tutorial, I scored the cardstock every half inch. Then used the direct-to-paper technique to apply the ink and bring out the texture. The orchid image is from the Botanical Dreams stamp set, and colored with Copic markers in E11, E13, E15, E18, YG41, YG45, BV0000, and BV01.
The next card features floral images from the Friends Are Forever stamp set. It is colored with Copic markers in Y13, R01, R20, R22, G02, and G09. I paired the stamped panel with patterned paper from an ATD Vibrant paper pack. This bright green gives the card a cheerful, lively feel.
The final card is a graduation card I made for a friend’s son. I started with a card sketch I found on Stamping 411, which provided a great layout to work from. I stamped the images—likely from Hero Arts, though I’m not entirely sure—using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This gave the card a crisp, classic look.
