Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday From a Cup to a Card post. You just never know when or where inspiration will strike. I found that out back in December of 2008 after grabbing an orange mocha from a local coffee shop one afternoon. The cup, while super simple in design, spoke to me โ and as soon as I got home, it was off to the craft room!
From a Cup to a Card
After doing some Christmas shopping this afternoon, the family and I stopped at the new little coffee shop in town. The coffee was, eh, ok for the price, but the cup got my creative juices flowing.
Hereโs the cupโฆ

And hereโs the card I madeโฆ

Hereโs a challenge for you โ create your own card with the cup as your inspiration. Donโt forget to share it with me!
Thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday From a Cup to a Card post. Once again, I didnโt share much information in my original post. Back then, I probably didnโt think anyone would ever see it, so I kept it short with a simple โhereโs the inspo and hereโs the result.โ
The stamp is from the Martha Stewart Birds 1 set. Iโm guessing I used her colored pencils to fill it in. The image would have been heat-embossed with clear embossing powder after stamping it in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. The cardstock was likely 65lb brown and tan Recollections card from Michaels.
Looking at the finished card, you can see I took inspiration not only from the color of the cup but also its overall design. The brown cardstock forms the base, while the tan band highlights the oval image โ just like the cupโs wrap. The birthday sentiment is stamped with Memento ink as well, and I used it again to distress the edges for a soft, worn look.
As I wrote in the original post, Iโd love to see what inspires you from the cup shown above. Drop a comment and tell me what youโd create โ or even better, share a link so I can see your amazing project! Iโd also love to know where you find your inspiration. Let me know down below, and if youโd like to see more blasts from the past, you can find all of my Flashback Friday posts here.
