Flashback Friday Gatefold Card Challenge

Posted on January 23, 2026January 22, 2026 by Leen

Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Gatefold Card Challenge post. Back in August 2011 I participated in another StampTV Release Party challenge. I’m not sure what the other challenges were, but at the time the gatefold caught my eye. This was also the perfect time to use a newer stamp that I had recently purchased. Let’s take a look at the finished card!

Gatefold Card Challenge

This monthโ€™s Release Party challenges at StampTV are as fun as ever! The challenge I choose to participate in is to create a gatefold card. Iโ€™ve always been fascinated with this fold because Iโ€™ve never been able to make it correctly, but now that I own a Score Buddy itโ€™s as easy as pie!

The eagle stamp is from B&Jโ€™s Art Stamps, stamped on heavy base-weight cardstock in ivory, and it is colored in with colored pencils. I add some Memento ink around the edges and frame it with some gold paper that Iโ€™ve had for a few years. Inside the card I have the same gold and ivory paper with lots of room left to write on.

Thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday Gatefold Card Challenge post. As you can see it was another one of my “Chatty Cathy” posts from back in the day! lol I believe the colored pencils used on the Eagle were from Martha Stewart. While the coloring looks great for my skill level back then, I do wonder if I could now add more shading to really make it pop. I always enjoy looking back at older projects to see how much my style and techniques have changed over time, and I hope you enjoy these Flashback Friday posts as much as I do.

If you want to explore more fun folds, be sure to check out my other gatefold card here: Flashback Friday Gatefold Anniversary Card. Have you made many gate-fold cards yourself, or do you prefer another type of fun fold design? Iโ€™d love to hear which styles you enjoy creating and why.
