Welcome back to the craft room and thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday Sketch Challenge 144 post. It’s time to head back to June 2010 and another challenge. I really love how the finished card turned out. Stamping the swirls in the plain cardstock really elevated this card from plain to beautiful. The link to the original Mojo Monday post still works, however, only one of the images is visible. It’s still interesting to see the original interpretation of this sketch.
MoJo Monday Sketch Challenge #144
This is a birthday card for my sister using two different challenges. I started with the Mojo Mondayโs #144 sketch challenge. I also included the Anything with Words challenge from the Anything But Cute group at Paper Craft Planet.
Here is the sketch from Mojo Monday:

Here is my interpretation of the sketch:

The quote by Isadora James was found online, โA sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to
the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.โ The card base and the
brown card stock is from Bazzill. The ribbon is from Michaelโs while the pattern
paper, which Iโve had for years, is French Poetry Print by Sonnets. I added a
little color to the saying by pouncing my sponge with some excess vintage photo
distress ink. All the edges were lightly inked with Fired Brick Distress Ink.
To add a little embellishment to the plain brown, I stamped flourishes with the
same Distress Ink. I also added a stamped โHappy Birthdayโ on the inside of the
card.
Thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday Sketch Challenge 144 post. As I said, I really love how this card turned out. Looking at it now, some 14 years later, there is only 1 thing I might have done differently. I think that little tab needs something. I should have stamped the swirls on a larger piece of card and cut the tab and rectangle from it. Other than that, it is a beautiful card. Have you ever used a card sketch before? Let me know in the comments. If you would like to check out some of my other cards created for different sketch challenges, click Here: Sketch Challenge. Until then, have a fantastic weekend and I will see you back in the craft room again soon!
