Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Sketch Challenge 19 post. This card was created with the June 2010 sketch challenge for Operation Write Home. Unfortunately, this organization closed in 2019, but the sketches can still be found on Pinterest. By following this link, OWH Card Sketches, you will find so much inspiration! Before you go, check out the card I made with the sketch for challenge #19.
Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge 19
I found this great blog a few months ago, OWH Stars and Stamps. This is an incredible organization that supports our nationโs armed forces by sending blank homemade cards to the troops around the world. The soldiers can choose from these cards and send one home to their family and friends. Crafters also send card of encouragement and gratitude to the troops. Each week, the blog has different challenges to get the creative juices flowing.
Here is this weeks sketch:

For this week’s sketch challenge #19, I created this card using paper with a western/leather look. To stay in the western theme, I also used kraft card stock for the card base. I thought this was a wonderful combination to go along with my new horse stamps from Inkadinkadoo. The image was stamped with Memento ink in Tuxedo Black.
Here is my finished card:

Thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday Sketch Challenge 19 post. I really love using sketches when my own mind is stuck in a crafting funk. This particular sketch is so easy to use, and to adapt to any idea you might have. The small rectangle could easily become a circle or any other shape to fit the theme of your card. Let me know in the comments below how you would use this sketch. Until then, have a fantastic weekend and I will see you back in the craft room again soon!
