Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Sketch Challenge Moments post. Back in April 2010, I played along with another StampTV sketch challenge. Back then (and honestly, still now), I often struggled with taking a sketch and turning it into a finished card. Even though the struggle is real, I do still love how this card turned out. Let’s take a look at the sketch and then the finished card.
Sketch Challenge
I’m a little behind on adding some of my projects to the blog, but here is my interpretation of this week’s sketch challenge at StampTV. Here’s the sketch:
I usually have a difficult time taking a sketch like this and turning it into a card, but here is what I came up with.
I decided not to add the optional corner elements because I typically can’t get them straight or even. The round stamp from Stampendous is one of my mom’s that she is letting me borrow. I stamped it with Vivid ink in Brown, and the butterflies are from Martha Stewart. I also used the Textile embossing plate from CuttleBug and added a touch of Antique Photo Distress Ink to age the card and all of the elements. The butterflies are attached with foam tape to make them stand out a bit from the rest of the card.

Looking back, I still really love how this card turned out—the texture, the soft inking, and those sweet butterflies. If I could change one thing, though, I’d definitely use a sturdier card base.
