Flashback Friday Split Negative

Posted on December 1, 2023December 2, 2023 by Leen

Hello everyone and welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Split Negative post. Let’s start working on those Christmas cards, shall we? In November 2009, GinaK demonstrated a fun stamping technique called Split Negative. This technique produces two beautiful cards. However, when choosing your stamp, keep in mind this works best with chunky stamps rather than detail stamps. The other items needed to create these cards are embossing powders that match the color card stock you will be using. Let’s get crafty!

Split Negative

WOW This is a cool technique! When I watched the StampTV video this morning I just had to give it a try. You can find the directions over at StampTV Technique: Split Negative and I would love to see the projects you create!

I used the following supplies to create this card front which measures 5โ€ร—5โ€:

  • Nestabilities Labels 2
  • Stampendous Snowflake Square
  • VersaMark ink
  • Gold and Black embossing powders
  • Divine Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder

The second card uses the other halves of the image and some left over cardstock to create the background.

For this 5โ€x5โ€ finished card front I used the following supplies:

  • Nestabilities Standard Circles Large
  • Stampendous Snowflake Square
  • VersaMark ink
  • Gold and Black embossing powders

Let me know what you think and donโ€™t forget to jump on over to StampTV to see this and other great videos that Gina K has created!

Thank you so much for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday Split Negative post. While looking for the original video on YouTube I came across a newer video on the same technique. Check out this GinaK Video to see the same technique, with two very different card results: Stamp & Chat with Gina K – Merry Monday – Split-negative Technique. Let me know in the comments below if you have ever tried this technique before, or if it’s new to you. Have a fantastic weekend and I will see you in the craft room again real soon!
