Flashback Friday Thank You Daisy

Posted on May 16, 2025May 15, 2025 by Leen

Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Thank You Daisy post. Seventeen years ago, when I began my blogging journey, there was absolutely no posting schedule. It was seriously hit or miss when inspiration struck and I found time to craft and share it. Recently, I went through my original blog to note the dates and titles of those posts, and wow—this card originally went live in April of 2014! Before that? I’d only shared a Happy New Year post in January and, believe it or not, the last actual craft project before that was way back in June of 2013. Yikes!

But this daisy card marked a turning point. It kicked off a fun little two-month streak of regular crafting—and posting! LOL.

Thank You Daisy

This is the first craft project I’ve started and finished in a very long time—woohoo, go me! LOL.

The card base is black, layered with Ivory layering weight Pure Luxury cardstock from Gina K. The flower was punched from the same ivory cardstock using three different punches: the 2” and 5/8” punches from Recollections, and a 1” punch from The Paper Studio. I colored each layer with Mustard Seed distress ink before adding Rusty Hinge around the edges for dimension.

After inking, I used the end of a thin paintbrush to curl the petals and give them a bit of lift. For the flower center, I simply pressed a small crease into each petal using my thumbnail.

The edge punch I used is the Arch Lattice punch by Martha Stewart. The “thank you” stamp is one I’ve had for ages, but unfortunately, I no longer remember which company it’s from.

One thing I almost never do is decorate the inside of a card. This time I did add a strip of black cardstock with the same punched edge to carry the design through.

I’m hoping this one small completed project will be the spark that gets me back into a crafty groove. I’ve really missed creating, and I had so much fun playing with my new punches. I can’t wait to add flowers to many more projects in the future!

Thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday Thank You Daisy post. This card really did turn out to be a good jumping-off point to get back into crafting. Sadly, it only lasted about a month before life got in the way again. Dang it! Even so, revisiting this project has reminded me just how much joy crafting brings, and I’m so glad I documented it here all those years ago.

Do you remember one of your own “comeback” projects—the one that got you back to your desk after a creative break? I’d love to hear about it in the comments! And if you’re in the mood for more crafty nostalgia, be sure to check out some of my other Flashback Friday posts. It’s amazing how far a little cardstock, ink, and inspiration can take us.
