Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday The Summer Ride post. I’ll warn you now, this isn’t the typical project post that I share here in the craft room. In honor of the 25th Anniversary of the Fall Harvest Car Show happening this weekend, I thought it would be the perfect time to share a fun memory from years past.
As we slowly fade into fall and winter, Iโm reminded of June 2008. That summer my husband completely surprised me with a little red Mazda Miata convertible that he purchased from a friend of ours. I can still remember the excitement when he pulled into the driveway with it. She was such a cute car, and of course she needed a nameโso we called her Thelma. From the moment I slid into the driverโs seat, I knew she was going to be a blast and a half to drive around town.

Before I really had the chance to put too many miles on her, my husband added a roll bar for extra safety and upgraded the sound system. He put in a new radio, fresh speakers in the doors, and even speakers in the headrests. Let me tell you, cranking up the music while the wind whipped my hair into tangles was pure summer freedom!

Now, Thelma wasnโt without her quirks. With the top up she felt a little claustrophobic, and at 5’7″ I had to do a bit of bending and twisting just to get in and out. Still, every ride was worth it, and the memories we made are ones Iโll never forget.

Sadly, we sold Thelma a handful of years ago, and I still miss her whenever I see a little Miata on the road.
Thank you for joining me for todayโs Flashback Friday The Summer Ride. Itโs always so much fun to head down memory lane with you. Let me know in the commentsโwhat has been your favorite summer ride? Was it a first car, a convertible, maybe even a motorcycle? Iโd love to hear your stories! Until then, have a fantastic weekend, and Iโll see you back in the craft room with more projects soon.
PIN THIS POST FOR LATER!
