Flashback Friday Thinking of You

Posted on June 2, 2023June 1, 2023 by Leen

Hello everyone and welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Thinking of You card. In honor of the fifth anniversary of my mom’s passing I want to share one of the last cards that I made for her.

Thinking of You

Hello everyone! Today Iโ€™d like to share with you the card I made for my sweet mama while she was in the hospital last week. It features my new favorite stamp set Beautiful Day by AlteNew as well as the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, Memento Inks, and Recollections cardstock.

AlteNew creates such amazingly detailed multi stamp sets. This set was at the top of my purchase list. With the help of the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform itโ€™s a breeze creating the flower and leaf images.

Creating The Flowers

Starting with the solid image, position the stamp where you want it on the card and close the lid of the stamp platform. This will pick up the stamp and after inking it, will place it back in the exact same spot over and over again!

To create the flowers I first started with the lightest color, Cantaloupe Memento Ink. I inked the stamp and made one impression on a piece of Recollections cream color cardstock.

Position the next stamp on top of the first image. This could be a little difficult if the first ink color is really light, but keep spinning the stamp until it lines up. Using the medium ink color, Tangelo Memento Ink, I added another layer to the flower.

Now let’s align the next layer stamp. Adding the third and darkest color, Potter’s Clay Memento Ink, really adds a ton of detail to this flower.

Adding the Leaves

Using a sticky note and the outline stamp, I made a mask so I could add the leaf clusters behind the flower. Again I started with the lightest color, Pear Tart Memento Ink.

Then I added the darkest color, Bamboo Leaves Memento Ink, and the leaf cluster is complete.

Finishing the Thinking of You Card

I wanted to add a bit of texture to the flower so I used copper embossing powder. I aligned the outline stamp and stamped with VersaMark Ink before heat embossing the copper embossing powder. This really adds a nice touch and a bit of shine to the image. Using more of the Recollections cream cardstock, I created the card base. The mat is a piece of Bazzill Basics cardstock from an 8 x 8 paper pack thatโ€™s been in my crafty stash for years.

I know mom really liked this card, and it added a nice bit of color to her room. Are you a fan of AlteNew?? If so, what is your favorite stamp set? Let me know in the comments and Iโ€™ll catch you next time in the craft room!

This AlteNew Stamp set is still my absolute favorite. I have used it many times over the years, for many different types of cards. One of the best features of this set is the outline stamp. You can create beautiful flowers like I did in this case, but with the outline you can color the flowers with any medium you wish.

Thank you for joining me today in this Flashback Friday Thinking of You post. I hope you all have an wonderful and relaxing weekend, and I will see you again soon!
