Flashback Friday Tri-fold Pocket Card

Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Tri-fold Pocket Card post. In the original post I referenced a website that featured tri-fold pocket card. Unfortunately, that site is no longer online. That is the sad thing about referencing blog posts from years ago, the original links are very rarely still active. However, let me show you my interpretation of a tri-fold pocket card.

I recently received a request to make a video tutorial of this card. While creating that video I realized my measurements from the original post were incorrect. There is now a new image below that shows the correct measurements and they are also mentioned in the following video.

Tri-fold Pocket Card

After seeing the pocket fold cards on the Remote Assistance website I was intrigued with the fold. After thinking about it for a few days, I came up with my own take on these cool looking pocket cards. The finished card size is 4” x 6” with a ribbon tie.

Start with a sheet of paper that measures 12” x 6”. On the 12″ score 3.5” from the left edge, 4” from the previous score line, and 3” from the previous line. That should leave you with 1.5” strip on the right side. Editing Leen here to make the scoring a little easier: on the 12″ side score at 3.5″, 7.5″, and 10.5″

To make the pocket, tape each side of the short 1.5” strip at the very edge of the paper.

To make the mats for the outside cover, center mat and the pocket insert, follow the dimensions in the image below. Decorate, as you like before attaching to card base.

Using a piece of 18” ribbon, secure it to the back of the card as well as under (or over if you prefer) the outside cover mat.

No Slip Ribbon Knot

I found an amazing way to make a no-slip ribbon knot. Begin with a small hole where you would like your final knot to be. Begin by threading the ribbon through the hole from the back of the card to the front. Pull through the amount you want for the knot and the tail. Take the remaining ribbon from the back and wrap it around to the full width of the card. take the tail end of the card and thread it back through the hole to the front of the card. Make sure you are splitting the ribbon in the middle and tie your knot or bow. Trim the ends as short as desired. It sounds a little confusing I know. What you are doing though is threading through the hole from the back to the front with both ends of the ribbon.

I can’t remember where I saw this technique, so if anyone knows who created it, please let me know so I can give them credit.
