Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Habitat Folio Flip Album Tutorial post. As promised, Here is the tutorial for the Habitat Folio Flip Album that I shared with you last week. Let’s start by gathering all of our supplies. You will need cardstock for the base of the folio, pattern paper, adhesive of your choice, scissors, a score board, paper trimmer, ribbon, perhaps a ruler, and of course your beverage of choice.
The Folio Base
The base for the album is really very simple and only needs 4 pieces of card stock. The main album is two pieces of card stock measuring 6 ¼” x 12” and 6 ¼” x 6 ½”. On the 12” piece, score at 5 3/4“ and 6 1/8” and on the 6 ½” piece, score at ½” and 7/8”.
Using adhesive, adhere the smaller piece to the right side of the long 12″ piece. This will create the front and back covers.
Next we are going to add the two flaps that measure 7 1/8” x 5 5/8”. On the longer side score them both at ½” and 7/8”.
Again, using your favorite adhesive, attach the flaps to the base piece as shown below and set aside.
To create the center flip album you will need 6 pieces of card that measure 6” x 6”. Score them all at ½”.
Glue the pieces together as show below to create the booklet. Today I used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue
Decorating the Folio
As a reminder, I used the beautiful Recollections Habitat paper pad. We only need two different sizes of pattern paper to decorate the entire album. That makes cutting and prepping this portion of the folio super simple. The covers will need a total of 10 pieces that measure 5 ½” x 6.
For the flip pages you need 12 pieces that measure 5 ¼” x 5 ¾”. On the first album, I waited until this portion was glued to the cover before adding the pattern paper. However, for me it is much easier to do this before it is secured to the base.
Because this paper is heavy, I used the Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to adhere the majority of the folio together. I laid all the papers out where I wanted them before gluing them down. This way I was able to make sure they faced the correct direction.
The ribbon closure is two pieces of Offray Satin Ribbon in a pretty chocolate brown. Both pieces are cut to about 12 inches long. I wanted the ribbon to be centered on the cover, so I used the ruler as a guide before securing them with Scor-Tape. With the addition of the ribbon to the front and back covers, I again used Scor-tape to secure the paper down.
Finished Habitat Folio Flip Album
This turned out to be an adorable little folio. I also really like the added flap that the first folio didn’t have. It just gives it a more rounded and finished look to the project. And of course the paper is Beautiful!!
