Welcome back to the craft room and todayโ€™s Happy Birthday Distress Hexagons Card post! This past week I did something Iโ€™ve wanted to do for a long time. I created my first ever card tutorial on YouTube! It was nerve wracking, and felt a little disjointed to me, but I did it anyway.

Distressed Hexagons

I began this card with a quick and simple inked background with Distress Inks and my Waffle Flower blending brushes. On a piece of Strathmore Bristol Vellum Surface card, I added Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge, and Crackling Campfire Distress Inks. To add a bit of shine, I used Antiqued Bronze Distress Mica Spray over the panel and let it dry.

To create the shapes, I used Tim Holtzโ€™s Stacked Tiles Hexagon dies. With many sizes to choose from, I picked the second to smallest die. I cut a number of the shapes with my Sizzix Big Shot machine and the scrapbook.com Magic Mat.

Because the card mat I chose to use is white, I added Scorched Timber around the sides of the hexagon shapes. This not only gives dimension, but also helps them pop off the page.

Using a leftover piece of the ink blended card, I stamped the sentiment with the Kaiser Craft Occasions stamp set. Happy Birthday was stamped with Amalgam Ink using my Mini Misti. I love how the shimmer from the Mica Powder can still shine through this dark ink color.

Finishing The Card

To complete the card, the hexagon shapes are adhered to the card mat with Art Glitter Glue. After inking the edges of the sentiment strip, it was added to the center of the card with Thin 3D Foam Squares. The edges of the mat are also distressed with Scorched Timber Distress Ink before adding it to the card base.

Thank you so much for joining me for todayโ€™s Happy Birthday Distress Hexagons Card post. The shine from the Antique Bronze Mica Spray is such a fun pop of color on an already colorful background. This was a fun card to create even though I was very nervous while shooting the video. If you havenโ€™t yet, please take a few minutes to watch it and let me know what you think. As a new video creator, critiques and reviews are welcome and appreciated. Please consider liking the video, subscribing to my channel, and hitting the bell for notification. Until then, have a wonderful week and I will see you all back in the craft room soon!
