Happy Easter and welcome back to the craft room. Today I want to share my latest card, He is Risen. This is the second card using my Cricut Explore Air 2 and the first time trying the Print then Cut feature. Let’s take a look at how I did it.
Cricut – Print then Cut
My idea for this card was to try out the Print-then-Cut Cricut feature. To begin this process, I uploaded this cross image from Canva into Cricut Design Space. Then I created a blank shape the size of my finished card mat. The cross was then resized to fit this shape. When I was happy with the results, I hid the mat shape and duplicated the cross image two times. The duplicate images were changed from “Print-then-Cut” images to “cut” images.

After sending the image to my printer, I loaded the layering weight ivory card by GinaK onto my Cricut cutting mat. All three of the crosses cut perfectly. To add more dimension to the print image, I added some Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges of all three crosses.

Then after gluing the crosses together, I went back in with even more Distress Ink in both Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso to add dimension and texture.

I just couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I did add a little extra touch where the short cross arms went over the center beam. This was created with the side of an old hotel key card direct to the Ground Espresso Distress ink pad.

I really love how thick this cross became with the three layers of card stock.

He is Risen Sentiment
The sentiment on the front of the card was a bit daunting to create. My first thought was to print the image with a Cricut pen and then cut the 3.75” x 5” mat. Well, being new to the software as I am, it didn’t work out as planned and turned into a hot fail! Not only did it cut out the rectangle shape, but it also cut out the letters of the sentiment. So Plan B it was! I used the same front; Alex Brush, and created the sentiment in Word. I Then cut the correct mat size with my Waffle Flower A2 Layers die set.

The Finished Card
I am so happy with how this card turned out! The texture around the edges that were able to come through with the “print then cut” feature of the Cricut machine is amazing!

Thank you for joining me on this blessed Easter Day and I will see you again soon!
