Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Spring Flower Bouquet Card With Free SVG File post. Since late last year I have been trying to keep to a craft supply spending budget. That had been relatively easy to stick to, until Tim Holtz released his first Vault Collection in January. When I looked at the die sets in the collection and saw the Vault Wildflowers set, my resolve to not spend on craft supplies wavered. It wasn’t until I watched his YouTube video Tim Holtz Sizzix Vault 1 Collection (2024) that I HAD to have these dies! They are perfect when paired with the original Wildflowers Stems die sets. Let me show you the first finished project created with them.
Spring Bouquet Flowers
All of the elements in this vault collection are beautiful, but I absolutely love the little daisy! In fact, of all of the Wildflower Stems sets I own, the daisy is my favorite. So, of course that had to be the first flower I created a project with. From Strathmore Bristol Vellum card I cut several daisies and a leafy branch from the Wildflower Stems 1 and the Vault Wildflowers sets. To color the flowers I used different colors from all three of the newer Distress Watercolor Pencil sets. I began with Wilted Violet and Victorian Velvet from set #4. From set #6, I chose to color the flower petals with Dusty Concord and Blueprint Sketch.
The flower centers were all colored with Scattered Straw from set #4 and Squeezed Lemonade from set #5. This is a really pretty combination that I also use with my Distress Ink pads. To add some color to the stems and leaves I returned to set #4 and Shabby Shutters.
Because the greenery stems are so delicate, I decided to color a panel of the Strathmore paper before die cutting the images. The best way to do this is to apply the color is with the pouncing method. Not only is it fast and fun, but it also adds so much more depth and texture to the panel. The colors I chose were Peeled Paint and Crushed Olive Distress Inks. After cutting out the pieces I carefully edged everything but the blossoms with a bit of Scorched Timber Distress Ink.
Flower Pot SVG File
I have been wanting to use a flower pot in some of my floral imaged for a while now. The best way to do that, and not go over that crafty budget, was to design my own SVG file. I created this file with 5 different sized flower pots that I would love to share with you; CL_Flower_Pots. These are such simple shapes, they can be used with or without a cutting machine. Included in the SVG download is a JPG version that you can print and cut out with scissors.
Upload the file to your software of choice. Ungroup everything, choose the one you want and resize to fit your project. For my project, I chose to scale the flower pot to 3.25” x 2.625. I am using the brown color card from the Recollections Coffee and Cream paper pack. To give it a bit more color I ink blended the edges with Rusty Hinge and Scorched Timber Distress Ink. For a more defined line between the base and the lip, I added more ink to the bottom of the lip.
Finishing The Spring Flower Bouquet Card
My design skills still need a little bit of help, so it did take time placeing the flowers where I wanted them. I worked with one element at a time, gluing it down with Art Glitter Glue only when it felt right. I also use Thin 3D Foam squares behind each of the flower blossoms. To ensure the flower pot had dimension, I used two pieces of card in the center of the shape. When gluing the pot into place, I made sure to add a good amount of Art Glitter Glue to the sides. It took time holding it down to ensure a proper adhesion, but it was totally worth it!
I am so happy with how this card turned out! I really do think of warm spring days when I look at it. The color combinations on the flowers are lighter in color than I originally wanted them. But again, this makes me think of the first flowers that bloom when the winter winds stop blowing. I’ve added a couple of side angle views to see the ever so slight dimension of the pot and the flowers. I don’t imagine there would be any trouble sending this card through the mail either.
