Before we dive into today’s Two Stunning Cards, One Love SVG tutorial, let’s take a moment to talk about the free Love Heart SVG file, available for download here: CL_LoveHeart. This versatile design features a background mat layer, the word ‘Love’ with a heart replacing the letter ‘O,’ and a standalone heart layer that you can cut in any color to enhance your project. Today, I’ll show you two creative ways to use it, and I can’t wait to see how you make it your own!
Love You Card
Sizing in Cricut Design Space
The first card we’re creating today is bold and dramatic! The Love SVG will take center stage, paired with the stunning Fire Stone Red Iridescent Mirror card from Tonic Studios to make it truly stand out. In Cricut Design Space, we’ll start by setting up the card front. Choose a square from the shapes menu, unlock the aspect ratio, and resize it to 5” wide by 3.75” tall.
Next, let’s resize the Love sentiment. Since I want it to be the focal point of this card, I’ll adjust the width to 3.75”. Be sure to keep the aspect ratio locked so that the height adjusts automatically, maintaining the design’s proportions.
I want this card to say ‘Love You,’ so I’ll use the Text tool to add the word ‘You.’ From the Edit menu, I’ll change the default Cricut font to one installed on my system. After selecting ‘System,’ I can either scroll through the font list or type the name in the search bar. For today’s project, I’ve chosen the font Bridgett for its elegant style.
With the word highlighted, I’ll navigate to the Edit menu and change it from a Basic Cut to Pen. Cricut Design Space will then prompt me to select the pen size and color I plan to use. Once that’s set, I’ll position the word on the card where I want it to be drawn. If resizing is needed, I can either adjust the font size or simply drag the text to achieve the desired dimensions.
Our final step is the most important one. To ensure the Cricut prints your message exactly where you want it, you need to give it specific instructions. Once you’ve positioned and sized the word correctly, highlight both the text and the mat layer, then select ‘Attach.’ This step locks the placement so your design turns out perfectly.
When you’re ready to cut your project, Cricut Design Space will prompt you to insert the pen into Clamp A if you’re using the Explore or Maker series. For the Joy and Joy Extra, insert the pen into the clamp first, and when prompted, replace it with the cutting blade to complete your design.
Putting the card together
Once all the pieces are cut, carefully remove them from your cutting mat. Assemble your sentiment using your preferred adhesive—I personally love Art Glitter Glue. It provides a strong hold while still giving you a moment to adjust the pieces if needed. One interesting thing I’ve noticed about Cricut cuts is the slight lip left on the cardstock edges. While it’s usually not very noticeable, it stands out more with heavier 110lb cardstock. On most days, it doesn’t bother me, but today it did. To smooth out that ridge, I simply ran my Teflon bone folder over the cutouts, and as you can see in the image below, it made a noticeable difference.
I added two score lines to the card front using my Martha Stewart scoring board. The first score line is 1 3/8” from the bottom, and the second is 1 1/2”. In my initial test run of this project, I only set up the first score line at 1 3/8” in Design Space. However, I wasn’t happy with the result, so I decided to manually add both score lines using my score board for a cleaner finish.
The Red Mirror card mat is cut to 4” x 5.25”. You could set this layer up in Design Space and cut the heart from the center to save material. For attaching the panel to the mirror card, I used both 1/4” scor-tape and Art Glitter Glue. It may have been a bit of overkill, but I want to ensure my cards stay securely together. I also adhered the Love sentiment to the card front using both scor-tape and Art Glitter Glue for extra hold.

Sizing in Cricut Design Space
Our second card is going to be super easy! We’ll begin in Cricut Design Space again. This time, I still want the Love sentiment to make a statement, but with a more subtle presence. I’ll resize it to 3” wide, and just like that, the design is ready—no more adjustments needed in Design Space!
Creating the Finished Card
While looking for an extra sentiment to add to this card, I came across a fantastic resource: 745 Love Quotes to Explore Across 15 Categories blog post. This page is filled with a variety of love-inspired quotes, ranging from romantic to funny, and everything in between. I highly recommend saving this link for all your love-themed projects! I found the perfect sentiment for my card: ‘All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.’ – Charles M. Schulz. Truer words were never spoken!
Instead of using the Cricut to print the sentiment onto the card, I decided to print it from Word. For the small portion of the quote I’m featuring on the front, I adjusted the font size to what I felt would look best. I’ve chosen Rage Italic for this sentiment, as its style complements the overall design.
To center the portion of the quote for the inside of the card, I created a text box sized to 4” x 5.25”. This makes it easy to adjust and perfectly center the quote. While trimming the printed text box, I also cut it down to the finished size of 3.75” x 5”. For this section of the card, I decided to use a different font and chose Beachwood Sans from Creative Fabrica to complement the design.
The card layers for this project include a 65lb gray cardstock from the Architecture pack, paired with a bright pink from the 6×6 Wedding Neutrals textured paper pad. I discovered this paper pad at my local Goodwill store over a year ago. After searching the Michael’s website, I found it’s no longer in stock, but I did come across the Roses paper pack, which features similar colors. While it’s not the exact match, it’s a great alternative.

I would typically be finished with this card, but today I wanted to add a little extra bling. I sifted through my small collection of embellishments and decided to use my Totally Tiffany Rock Candy Confetti bits. After testing out a few placement options on the card front, I used my Studio Katia embellishment wand and small dots of Art Glitter Glue to add five pieces of confetti for just the right amount of sparkle.
