Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Two Very Different Easter Cards post. Because Easter Sunday is fast approaching this year, I wanted to share both of the cards that I have made. As the title of the post suggests, these two cards are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Let me show you what I mean.
He Is Risen
The first of the very different Easter cards I want to share with you is this my He Is Risen card. The majority of the card layers are all from the 110lb Coffee and Cream Recollections card pack from Michaels. I’m not sure where the kraft card in the center of the cross is from though.
This card began in Affinity Designer 2, where I created the cross SVG. I then uploaded the file into Cricut Design Space and sized it to fit on the card front. To add texture to the cross, I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink with the Waffle Flower Shading Brush #0. I then used a pair of scissors to rough up the edges before adding another layer of ink. The small 5” Mini Snips Scissors by Tim Holtz work great for this technique. I added a bit of Scorched Timber Distress Ink to the edges of the hill as well.
The text is added to the Recollections Ivory card with my Cricut Explore Air 2 and the black 0.4 tip Cricut Pen. When I chose the font Lavender Flowers, I thought it was a really skinny font. As you can see though, it was thick enough that the Cricut drew an outline of the letters. It’s not exactly what I wanted, but I do like the way it looks on the card.

Happy Easter Peeps
The second Easter card is very spring inspired with the soft pastel colors. I found a fun Outline Bunny SVG file over on Creative Fabrica and I had to have it. As soon as I saw the outline of the Peeps bunny, the card and sentiment came into view.
After uploading the file into Cricut Design Space and sizing the bunny to fit the card, I found out that it can cut out an outline and an inner bunny. As you can see in the screen shot below, the bunny on the right is the original shape, while the image on the left is just the inner shape. With the contour panel pulled up, I turned off the outline to give me a more defined bunny shape.
To stay true to the idea of the candy Peeps, I created small circles for the eyes and nose and had the Cricut draw them on with the black 0.4 tip Cricut Pen. The sentiment is also written with the Cricut pen using the font Cart Wheel Sketch. In my scrap pile, I found three different pastel colored paper scraps for my Peeps. After cutting them out I did have to do a little bit of cosmetic work on them. First, the eyes and nose were drawn as circles, so I filled them in. Just like the candy, they aren’t perfect! I also used three different shades of Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick, Scattered Straw, and Speckled Egg) to add some shading to each of the bunnies.
I also added some extra dimension by adding two extra layers to each bunny. To mat the front panel I found a scrap piece of Rose Gold metallic card from the Rose Quartz paper pad by DCWV. I thought this color worked perfectly with the soft pastel colors of the card.
