Hello my friends, welcome back to the craft room and today’s Daisy Cover Plate Thanks blog post. Two weeks ago I attended the online Cricut Card Summit hosted by Brandi Mahon from Stamp Me Some Love. This summit consisted of three days full of amazing ideas to incorporate the Cricut machines in our card making adventures.
One of the presenters, Erin Reed from Erin Reed Makes, shared a fun cover plate SVG (scalable vector graphic) that she designed especially for summit participants. I really loved the card she created, but something went wrong while downloading the file and it’s gone. So I decided to get creative and use her idea to create my own design based on her idea.

The design I created in Cricut Design Space, like Erin’s, incorporates a sentiment strip in the design. As you can see in the image above, I also created an extra sentiment strip and frame. These were created with the idea that I wanted to color in the flowers with ink or Copic markers.
The Cover Plate SVG
When I cut the cover plate image on my Cricut Explore Air 2 I set it for 100 lb paper. As it was cutting my anxiety went into overdrive as I saw how jagged the cut lines looked. You can see that in the image below. I really didn’t know if it cut through the 110 lb Recollections card or not.

Thankfully when I removed the card from the cutting mat, everything looked fine! When I began this card project my intent was to color in the flowers with distress inks and blending brushes. However, as I waited for the cut to finish, I decided to do a simple design. Using Mustard Seed Distress Ink and a detail blending brush I added a bit of color just to the center of the flowers. To add some interest, I lightly pounced some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink over the yellow.

The Background and Sentiment
As I have mentioned before, backgrounds are never easy for me. I wanted a light color so I grabbed a few different pieces off card stock and asked my husband for his opinion. We settled on the light lavender color. I used this same card stock to cut the Thanks sentiment using the Alphanumeric Bold die set from Tim Holtz and Sizzix.

The Finished Thanks Card
I chose this sentiment in preparation for an upcoming weekend getaway with my husband. I always leave a tip for housekeeping, but being the crafty girl that I am, I always leave the tip in a Thank You card.

Thank you so much for joining me today as I shared my Daisy Cover Plate Thanks card. Have you ever created your own SVG cover plate or do you like using cover plate dies? Let me know in the comments down below. If you would like to see my other SVG design that I created you can check that card out here, CAS Floral Frame Card. I hope you all had a great weekend and I will see you again next week for another post!
