Card with a large die cut purple daisy on a wood slice

Etched Layered Daisy Birthday Card

Posted on November 13, 2022June 10, 2025 by Leen

Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Etched Layered Daisy Birthday Card post. Back in January I found out a co-worker was less than a week away from having a birthday. So I decided to surprise her with a birthday card. I have had the Etched Layered Daisy die from Simon Says Stamp for a few months and wanted to use it. Soraya’s birthday was the perfect opportunity.

I cut the two pieces from a piece of 110lb. white Recollections card stock from Michaels. I wanted to use Prismacolor colored pencils and Gamsol to add the color. To give the flowers more stability while coloring, I placed them back into the card they were cut from. To keep them in place, I added painters tape to the back.

Large purple flowers, colored pencils, and a bottle of Gamsol for today's Etched Layered Daisy Birthday Card post.

For the petals I used Lavender and Dahlia Purple, and the flower center was Pale Vermilion and Canary Yellow. Using a blending stump with the Gamsol, I blended the first layer of colors. After that I used the Dark Dahlia Purple to add some texture on the petals.

Finished large purple flower with a yellow gold center.

The sentiment is one of my favorites, Opposites Attract by The Greetery. Using my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment with amalgam ink by GinaK Designs.

Thank you for joining me for today’s Etched Layered Daisy Birthday Card post. I had a lot of fun making this card, and Soraya Loved it!! That alone made my day!
