Flashback Friday Card Share

Posted on October 24, 2025September 15, 2025 by Leen

Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Card Share post. Ya know how sometimes a new technique is so exciting that you just have to put everything else aside to try it? That’s exactly what happened one evening in July of 2011. Even though I didnโ€™t have the exact supplies, I dug around in my craft stash and found something that worked perfectly. While in that creative roll, I even completed another card with a flower that had been waiting a whole year to shine! Let me show you what I created.

Cards to Share

The first card features a technique I discovered online called Streaky Glass by Amanda Corbet. You can find her tutorial on her blog, Krafting Kreations

I started by punching out a heart shape and covering it with a thick layer of Crystal Lacquer. Since I donโ€™t own reinkers, I grabbed my alcohol inks instead. Using Butterscotch and Cranberry, I added a drop of each and used a pin to swirl the colors together.

Hereโ€™s a close-up of the heart:

To finish the card, I pulled out my brand-new Score-Buddy and added a few decorative score lines on Gina Kโ€™s heavy base weight cardstock. It was tricky to capture them in a photo, but I staggered the lines by about ยฝ inch each to create extra interest. I liked the clean, simple look, so I didnโ€™t add much more.

The second card was something completely different for me, featuring a HUGE flower! I had made the flower about a year earlier using the Tattered Florals Alterations die by Tim Holtz. Each layer was inked with Distress Ink (though I canโ€™t remember which colors I used). Because the flower was so large, I wasnโ€™t sure how to use itโ€”so it just sat in my basket until last night.

For the sentiment, I die cut a Fancy Tag Nestabilities shape and stamped a birthday greeting in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Looking back, I should have chosen heat embossing, because the ink faded into the paper.

Thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday Card Share post. Once again, I noticed I left out some details in the original write-up. For the second card, I had actually stamped the sentiment on shimmer cardstock from DCWV, which explains why the Memento ink looked so muted. Fourteen years later, I donโ€™t think heat embossing would have helped much after all!

Iโ€™m curiousโ€”how often do you look back on your past projects and wonder if a different technique might have worked better? I find myself doing that quite a lot with these Flashback Friday cards. Thanks for joining me on this little trip down memory lane. If youโ€™re looking for more inspiration, check out my Birthday Card projects. Iโ€™ll be back soon with another crafty shareโ€”see you then!
