Flashback Friday Happy Spring CASE Card

Posted on March 14, 2025March 12, 2025 by Leen

Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Happy Spring CASE Card post. With Spring finally starting to make its presence felt, there’s no better way to celebrate than by creating a cheerful card! Back in April of 2010, the talented Theresa Momber was honored as the Featured Stamper at SplitcoastStampers. To celebrate her creative journey, the community was invited to select one of her stunning cards and recreate it in our own unique style. Today, I’m excited to share the card I chose and walk you through how I made it my own.

Happy Spring & Theresa Momber CASE

This week at SplitcoastStampers and StampTV, the Featured Stamper is the incredibly talented Theresa Momber! In honor of her amazing artistry, everyone is invited to pick one of her stunning cards and CASE it. But what does CASE mean? It stands for โ€˜Copy And Share Everythingโ€™ โ€” which simply means you take a card you admire, make a few changes (like altering the ink colors, swapping out the stamps, or modifying the layout), and then share what youโ€™ve changed. The card I chose to CASE is Gentle-Fawn, and Iโ€™m excited to show you how I made it my own!

And here is my version of the card:

Supplies

The background of my image was created using alcohol inks. For the ground, I used Meadow and Lettuce, while for the sky, I chose Slate and Stream. The images were colored in with Bic Markers in Key Lime, Honey Brown, Cloud Nine Gray, Polynesian Purple, and Woodsy Brown. To maintain the purple theme of the Wisteria, I mounted the card onto lavender cardstock and framed the sentiment using Nestabilities Label 4.

I actually colored the fawn twice. The first time (as you can see in the image below), I colored it directly on the green background using Bic Markers. However, I wasnโ€™t happy with how it turned outโ€”the green background showed through slightly, giving the poor little fawn a sickly complexion. So, I decided to stamp the fawn again on a separate piece of white cardstock, colored it in with colored pencils, and then blended the colors with baby oil to smooth out the lines. Once I was happy with the look, I attached the second fawn over the original one. I think it looks much better now!

I still have a long way to go in developing my artistic skills. However, having such wonderful examples to learn from makes all the difference. Thank you, Theresa, for inspiring us all!

Thank you for joining me for today’s Flashback Friday Happy Spring CASE Card! I had so much fun working on this project. It was really interesting to try recreating Theresa’s card with alcohol inks. With the exception of the fawn, I think it turned out great. Have you ever tried the CASE method of card making? Let me know in the comments how you like to put your own spin on a card you recreate. Until then, have a fantastic weekend, and I’ll see you back in the craft room soon!
