Happy Friday everyone! Today’s Flashback Friday Spotlight Card is going back to June of 2008. I had a lot of fun creating examples of this technique. Let’s dive right on in and check it out.
Making a Spotlight Card
This is not my original idea, but I wanted to post an example of this really cool looking technique that I tried this weekend.
Step 1:
Stamp two images with waterproof ink or emboss with embossing powder.

Step 2:
Color one image in with markers, colored pencils or watercolor pencils. If using watercolor pencils, blend with water or a blending pen.

Step 3:
Cut out any shape from any area of the colored card you wish and mat with a piece of cardstock cut to the same shape.

Step 4:
Align smaller images onto your original image using your favorite adhesive or with foam tape to give it even more dimension.

Spotlight Card Examples
Here are two more examples for you; For the heart I added some foam tape underneath the gold heat embossed spotlight to add some height to it.

For the angel card the spotlight is attached without any foam tape.

You can also do the reverse of this technique by coloring in the bottom image and keeping the top image plain like this example here. I used Twinkling H2Os to color the image of the light post to give it the added sparkle.

In 2008 I was still incredibly new to the blogging world. Back then I did not list out where my stamps came from. So let’s fix that now:
The Granny – CC Rubber Stamps
Heart – has no information on the block
Celestial Angel – Stamps Happen Inc.
Lamp Post – PSX Rubber Stamps
There we go! Thank you for joining me for a Flashback Friday Spotlight Card. Have you ever used the spotlight technique? Let me know down in the comments. Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you again next week for another Flashback Friday.
