Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Flashback Friday Three Years Later post. Today we’re doing a flashback to a flashback—yes, really. It sounds a little crazy, but it’s always fun to see how a project holds up over time. Be sure to stick around until the end for a 2025 holiday update, but first, let’s rewind back to 2016.
Three Years Later
Way back in November of 2012, Pinterest was overflowing with glitter ornament posts. The ones that caught my attention most were glitter ornaments made using Pledge Floor Care with Future Shine.
I’ll be honest—my first thought was, “Riiiiiight… if this works, it won’t last.” Turns out, I was completely wrong.
Three years later, these same ornaments still looked brand new. Before taking the Christmas tree down, I snapped a few photos so you could see just how well they held up over time.
I’ve always loved this shade of purple—it’s such a pretty color.
I also think the copper-toned ornament above (and the gold one below) might be my favorites of the bunch.
Now for a little sad news. As beautiful as these ornaments are, they do not react well with hard surfaces. Poor red ornament—you didn’t know you were not a ping-pong ball. RIP.

I still remember how skeptical I was that Pledge Floor Care with Future Shine would work—let alone hold up over time. Yet here we are. Each year when I pull these ornaments out to decorate the tree, I’m still amazed at how beautiful they look. Below are a few photos of the same glitter ornaments hanging on the tree this holiday season.
If you’ve ever made glitter ornaments like this, I’d love to hear about it. What product did you use inside? And have you ever tried Pledge? If you do, I can honestly say you won’t be disappointed—these ornaments have held up beautifully for years.
If you’re thinking about giving this project a try, I’d recommend handling them gently during decorating and storage. A little extra care goes a long way in helping them last season after season.
And yes… I know the math doesn’t completely math here—but I was talking about three holiday seasons. So technically, the math really does math. 😉
