Good morning my friends and welcome back to the craft room! Today I am going to share an adorable Happy Easter Bunny Ears card with you. This card is the first project I’ve made using my brand new Cricut Explore Air 2. Let me show you how I made it.
Cricut Bunny Ears
I began this card by searching for a free SVG image of rabbit ears. I found this image after a search on Creative Fabrica: Easter Bunny Ears Line Art. At the time of this post, it is a free image, but I can’t guarantee it will always be free.

After opening a new project window, I opened a square shape and resized it to represent the size of my card layer. For this project, the image would be on a mat sized to 3.75″ x 5″.
I then uploaded my image and resized it to a manageable proportion to work with. When I began this project, I was unsure how the bottom of the image would cut out. The curved line looks incredibly delicate. To beef that section up, I brought in a new shape, the half circle. I resized both the circle and the ears image until they matched. I then selected both images, chose “combine”, and then “unite”. This action made them one solid piece.
The image was then resized over the card front image until I was happy with the arrangement. Before clicking the “Make It” button, don’t forget to hide the card base layer, as this was only a template and we don’t want this cutting out. I loaded 110lb white card onto my blue light-grip mat, and ran it through my machine.
Coloring the Bunny Ears
To shade the different parts of the ears, I started with Spun Sugar Distress ink for the center portion. You may notice the image original image and the following are mirror images of each other. It wasn’t’ until I was almost done coloring the inner portion of the ears that I realized they were backwards. Oh well, just keep going!

My first idea was to leave the outer portion of the ears white, but there wasn’t enough definition when it was on the card base. So I grabbed my favorite Distress Ink, Lost Shadow. I didn’t want to bend the delicate die cut, so I gently brushed the ink color over the image in one direction. I then committed the cardinal sin of ink blending by purposefully pouncing the blending brush onto the die cut. This added a really nice texture to the “bunny fur”. I also went back over the die cut with a smaller blending brush just on the edges for more definition.

The Sentiment
I created the sentiment with the Alphanumeric Bold dies by Tim Holtz and Sizzix. I wanted to make this a very Easter candy/Spring colored card, so I used scraps of card from Bazzill Basics 6 x 6 pack.

For the mat layer I chose another shade of card from the same pack and absolutely LOVE how it turned out!

Here is a zoomed in image of the ears. You can really see the amazing texture created by pouncing the blending brush.

This is such a clean and simple looking card and it was super easy to create. For those that don’t own a cutting machine like the Cricut, you could easily download this image and cut it out with an Exacto knife.
Do you own a cutting machine? If so I’d love to know how you use it in your card making adventure. Let me know down in the comments and I’ll see you all again soon!
