Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Mr. and Mrs. Wedding Card post. I want to share a wedding card that I made in August of 2017 for my good friend Lea. She had asked me earlier that year to make her wedding invitations and reception cards; an honor which I accepted! The wedding colors were blue (her choice), orange (her husband’s choice) and ivory. When making their wedding card, I wanted to incorporate the same colors as well as the same font used on the invitations. I think the finished card came out beautifully!
How It’s Made
I began the card with the ivory mat layer. This layer was embossed with the Sizzix Damask embossing folder to give a textured background to the card front. The flowers are made with the EK Success Retro flower punches. To add color and dimension to the blossom layers I used two different techniques. On a few of the smaller layers, I completely inked the flower with Tangelo Memento Ink before adding texture. For the larger blossom, I gave each layer a light mist of water before scrunching them with my fingers. After the layers were completely dry, I added a bit of color by dragging the ink pad over the raised portions of the petals. The flowers were glued together with Art Glitter Glue and added to the card front with a few twigs from the Spellbinders Foliage die set.
The Mr. & Mrs. were printed from Microsoft Word with the Great Vibes font. When I created this card, I found the font on the web site 1001freefonts.com. You can also find this same font on Creative Fabrica by following this link: Great Vibes. I then cut the panel with the Nestabilities Labels 4 die. I debated whether I should add a mat or ink the edges but am happy with the definition between the textured background the non-textured label. As you can see in the image below, I adhered the label to the card front with a bit of foam tape.
Finishing The Wedding Card
To complete the wedding card, I found a beautiful quote online. It was printed out in the same Great Vibes font onto an ivory card. It is difficult to see in the pictures, but the card base is a deep blue, the same color card that was used to create the wedding invitations.
