Welcome back to the craft room and today’s Faux and Finger Bow Show-n-Tell Post. In last Friday’s post: Flashback Friday The Faux Bow, I shared the faux bow technique. In the corresponding video I also included how to make finger bows; How to Make: Faux and Finger Bows. Today I want to share the cards I created with some of those beautiful bows. The only new item on all of these cards are the bows, everything else was premade and in my craft stash. Faux Knot – Hello
The first card I want to share with you is probably my favorite of the bunch. It starts with a 110lb Recollections cream colored card base and green card mat. The card from is from the Recollections Signature Especial shimmer card stock paper pack. The faux knot is done with Offray 3/8” green satin ribbon. For the sentiment, I chose a simple Hello from the Tim Holtz Bird Talk stamp set and it is stamped with Gina K amalgam ink on the color Obsidian.
The floral elements are tulip SVGs from Cricut Design Space. The original file is a single outline of the flowers but I decided to play around with it a bit. In Design Space, I changed the design around to be able to cut it in different ways. For this element I chose to cut the entire image from card stock and then an outline of the image in HTV, Heat Transfer Vinyl. After coloring the back panel with Copic Markers, I then applied the outline with my Cricut Mini Easy Press. The last step was to enhance the coloring with darker shades of yellow and green to add the shadows. To finish off the card, 3M foam tape was used to adhere the front to the card base.
Faux Bow – Happy Birthday
The next card I want to share with you has the faux bow. I started this card with a Bazzill Basics pink card stock and a piece of pattern paper from the Sage Park paper pad from Recollections. The bow is again 3/8” white Offray ribbon. The sentiment is stamped from the Kaiser Craft Occasions set in Gina K’s amalgam ink in the color Obsidian. Although this is a very clean and simple card design, the bow adds a touch of class.
Finger Bow – Hello
The next card I want to share with you features the double loop finger bow made with 5/8” satin Offray Ribbon. The stamped “Hello” greeting is from the HoneyBee Stamps Hello set and is stamped with amalgam ink. The ink smooshed panel was found in my tin of supplies and I thought it would be a nice colorful touch to another clean and simple card front. Because it was made a while back, I am only able to guess at the color combination of this panel though. I believe it has the following Distress Ink colors – Lumberjack Plaid, Fired Brick, Crackling Campfire, and Aged Mahogany. There may also be a little bit of Rusty Hinge, I am just not sure.
Thread Finger Bow – Heart
Our fourth card is another clean and simple design. I used one of the finger bows made with DMC size 10 Crochet thread. To create the card, I began with a Kraft colored 110lb card base from Recollections. The embossed mat is another item that had been hiding in my craft stash for a while. It was embossed using the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder by Cuttlebug and trimmed down to 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”, an odd size for sure. The heart shape was cut on my Cricut Explore Air 2 from Strathmore Bristol Vellum Surface watercolor paper. The coloring was my first play with Distress Spray stains in Tea Dye and a little bit of Vintage Photo. to add a bit of definition, I edged the heart with Scorched Timber Distress Ink. Finally I added some much needed glitz and shine with Distress Mica Spray in Antiqued Bronze.
Flat Bow – Plaid Snow Flakes
Our last card front had been floating around my craft room for the longest. While I loved the idea of it, and the pattern papers that I chose, finding an embellishment proved to be difficult. This flat bow ended up being the perfect embellishment for it though. I may or may not add a stamped sentiment at some point. It took some digging around, but I did find that the pattern paper came from the Craft Smart Christmas Farmhouse paper pad from Michaels. The flat bow is made with more of the 5/8” satin Offray Ribbon. I did add a few extra glue dots under the bow loops to keep them in place.
